Guide standards
GuideMeet is free for guides and takes no commission. In exchange we ask for one thing: a profile that tells travelers the truth.
These are the standards every guide profile is held to. We do not verify documents, so the standards are about honesty and completeness, and we enforce them by hiding or removing profiles that do not meet them.
Who can have a guide profile

You are 18 or older and you guide overland travelers: 4x4, motorcycle, camper or van, bicycle. With your own vehicle, with theirs, or alongside them for a stretch.
·
You work in the countries you list, now. Not the ones you would like to visit.
·
You are an independent guide, a small team or a local agency, and the profile says which one.
·
Where a licence or permit is required to do this work, you hold it. We do not check it. Travelers will ask, and you should be able to show it.
What a profile must contain

Your real name, or the trading name you actually use, and a photo of you. Not a logo, not a landscape.
·
At least one vehicle, with real photos of that vehicle. No stock images, no vehicles you do not have access to.
·
The countries and regions where you actually guide.
·
The languages you can work in, not the ones you studied at school.
·
The services you actually provide, chosen from the services list. "Other" is fine; inventing is not.
Profiles missing any of these are not shown on the home page or in the country pages. The checklist in your profile tells you what is missing.
How to behave

Answer requests, even to say no. Silence costs you visibility; a clear no costs nothing.
·
Quote honestly: price, days, what is included, what the traveler must bring.
·
One profile per person or business. Do not appear under different names, and do not split one agency into several "independent" guides.
·
Use your own photos and texts. Copying another guide's is grounds for removal.
·
Do not use the inbox to sell anything unrelated to the trip, and do not add travelers to mailing lists.
·
Reviews come from travelers after real trips. Do not ask friends, do not trade discounts for stars, do not review yourself from another account.
·
Respect the places you take people to: no tracks where driving is forbidden, no pressure on communities that do not want visitors.
Agencies
Local agencies are welcome, as agencies. Say so on the profile, use the agency name, and list the vehicles the agency actually operates.
An agency presenting itself as a single independent guide is removed.
The Founding Guide badge
The first 200 guides who joined GuideMeet carry the Founding Guide badge. It marks seniority on the platform, nothing else. It is not a verification, and it is removed if these standards are broken.
What happens when a profile falls short

A message from us asking you to fix specific things.

The profile hidden from the home page and the search results until it is fixed. Your direct link keeps working.
·
For fake identities, stolen photos, scams or harassment: the account removed, without prior notice.
If you think we got it wrong, write to legal@guidemeet.it within 14 days, saying what you changed or why we are mistaken. Someone other than the person who took the decision reviews it.
