Zambia for overland travelers
Zambia is one of the most rewarding overland countries in Africa because it asks more from the traveler. The national parks are vast, the roads can be slow, river systems shape access, and the best routes often sit far from the easy safari circuit. Distance, mud, ferries and timing are part of the adventure.
Kafue is the central giant: huge, varied, less crowded and ideal for travelers who want real space. Western Zambia and Liuwa Plain add an expedition feeling with floodplains, seasonal access and remote approaches where a proper 4x4 is not optional. South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi bring different safari identities, but connecting them well still requires planning.
