Mauritania for overland travelers
Mauritania is one of the purest Sahara overland destinations left within reach of European and North African routes. It does not polish the desert into an easy product. Banc d'Arguin adds a different texture, with coast, sand, islands and fishing communities before the interior turns more severe again. Many expeditions also include Nouadhibou, the iron ore train corridor or links toward Morocco, Western Sahara and Senegal.
