LADAKH - 5 LAKES & 6 HIGH PASSES - 14 Days

Ladakh motorcycle expedition is designed for adventure riders seeking an unforgettable journey through the remote landscapes, high mountain passes, pristine lakes, traditional villages, and unique cultures of the Indian Himalayas. Beginning in Delhi and flying to Leh, the expedition combines challenging high-altitude riding with spectacular scenery and immersive Himalayan experiences. The journey begins in Leh, where riders spend time acclimatizing to the altitude before receiving a comprehensive safety briefing and motorcycle orientation. A trial ride around Leh includes visits to the magnificent Shey Palace, Hemis Monastery, and Thiksey Monastery, providing an introduction to Ladakh's rich Buddhist heritage.

The real adventure begins on Day 4 with the legendary ride from Leh to Khardung La (5,359 m / 17,575 ft), one of the world's highest motorable passes. The route climbs through dramatic mountain terrain before descending into the spectacular Nubra Valley. Here, riders visit Diskit Monastery and experience the unique Hunder sand dunes, including the famous Bactrian double-humped camels.

Nubra Valley is explored further with an excursion toward Sasoma, a remote settlement on the route toward the Siachen Glacier, passing the beautiful and secluded Yarab Tso Lake. Another full-day ride takes the group to Turtuk, a remarkable Balti village close to the India-Pakistan border. Meeting local Balti people and experiencing their distinctive culture adds an important cultural dimension to the expedition.

From Nubra, the route heads toward the legendary Pangong Tso, following the Shyok River through spectacular valleys and remote military settlements. The turquoise waters of Pangong Lake contrast dramatically with the barren mountains surrounding it, creating one of the most memorable landscapes of the journey.

The expedition then continues from Pangong Tso toward Hanle, crossing the high Kaksang La (approximately 5,425 m / 17,800 ft). This remote route features beautiful high-altitude lakes and vast, virtually untouched landscapes before reaching the peaceful village of Hanle.

One of the biggest highlights of the expedition is the day ride from Hanle to Umling La (5,798 m / 19,024 ft). Located in the remote Changthang region, Umling La is among the highest motorable mountain passes in the world. Reaching this extraordinary altitude by motorcycle is a major achievement and offers riders an unforgettable experience amid stark, high-altitude Himalayan scenery.

From Hanle, the route continues toward Tso Moriri (4,600 m / 15,000 ft), with a stop at the beautiful Kyagar Tso and lunch at Sumdo. The journey then crosses Polokongka La (approximately 4,900 m / 16,076 ft) en route to Tso Kar, a spectacular salt lake and important habitat for Himalayan wildlife and migratory birds.

The final major riding day crosses the vast More Plains before ascending Tanglang La (approximately 5,328 m / 17,480 ft), one of the highest major passes on the Manali–Leh route. The dramatic descent eventually brings riders back toward Leh.

The final day in Leh is reserved for relaxation and exploring the local market before flying back to Delhi. The expedition concludes with an airport transfer for the onward journey home.

Overall, this adventure offers an exceptional combination of high-altitude motorcycle riding, legendary mountain passes, remote border villages, Buddhist culture, spectacular lakes, wildlife, and unforgettable Himalayan landscapes. From Khardung La and Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso, Hanle, Umling La, Tso Moriri, Tso Kar, and Tanglang La, this expedition is an ideal choice for riders looking to experience the wild and extraordinary side of Ladakh.
