Lesotho for overland travelers
Lesotho is the only country on earth entirely above 1,400 metres, and it drives like it: switchback gravel passes, high plateaus, shepherd villages and weather that can turn from sun to snow in an afternoon. The Sani Pass from South Africa is the famous gateway, but Baboon's Pass, Matebeng and the interior tracks are where the real driving lives.
Routes here are genuinely technical: rivers rise fast after storms, winter brings ice and snow to the passes, and fuel and supplies are concentrated in a handful of towns. A capable 4x4 with low range is not a style choice — it is the entry ticket.
