Colombia for overland travelers
Colombia is a major overland threshold in the Americas. It is where many Pan-American travelers restart after the Darien shipping gap, and where mountains, jungle edges, Caribbean desert, coffee regions and high Andean roads collide in one country. The driving can be beautiful, slow and logistically intense.
La Guajira is the most obvious 4x4 region, with desert tracks, sand, wind, remote communities and routes toward Cabo de la Vela and Punta Gallinas. Inland, the Andes create endless paved and unpaved alternatives through coffee country, Boyaca, Santander and the road systems around Bogota and Medellin. Tatacoa and the Llanos add dry and open-landscape contrasts.
GuideMeet can help because Colombia is not a country to reduce to GPS lines. Travelers need current local advice on road safety, weather, ferries, regions, parking, vehicle support and how to build a route that is adventurous without being naive.
