Overview: Embark on a serene and unforgettable journey through the pristine waterways of the Okavango Delta with our Mokoro Day Trip. This peaceful, nature-immersive safari introduces you to one of Africa’s most extraordinary ecosystems. Glide silently across clear channels in a traditional dugout canoe (mokoro), guided by skilled local polers who know the delta’s secrets. Trip Duration: Full Day Start Time: 07:00 AM End Time: Approximately 4:00 PM Includes: Transfers, mokoro excursion, local guide & poler, packed lunch, bottled water Itinerary 07:00 – Hotel Pick-Up Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your place of accommodation by one of our professional guides in an open-sided 4WD safari vehicle. As you head to the mokoro station (approx. 1-hour drive), enjoy sightings of the bush and possibly some wildlife along the way. 08:00 – Meet Your Guide & Poler On arrival at the mokoro launch point, you'll be introduced to your guide and experienced poler who will be with you throughout the trip. After a safety briefing, you'll board your mokoro and gently push off into the Delta. 08:30 – Mokoro Safari Experience Glide quietly through crystal-clear channels lined with water lilies, reeds, and palm-covered islands. Your poler will guide you through the tranquil labyrinth of water, while your guide helps spot delta wildlife—such as sitatungas, lechwe, elephants, and a variety of birds including African jacanas, kingfishers, and fish eagles. 12:00 – Picnic Lunch & Relaxation Stop at a shaded, scenic island in the heart of the Delta for a delicious packed lunch. Afterward, take time to relax under the trees, listen to the birdcalls, or take a peaceful nap surrounded by the sights and sounds of the wild. 14:00 – Return Journey Begin your return mokoro trip, soaking in the afternoon light and tranquil scenery. The ride back offers new angles and chances to see more wildlife and hidden Delta gems. 15:00 – Transfer Back to Accommodation Arrive back at the mokoro station and board your safari vehicle for the return transfer to your lodge or guesthouse, arriving around 4:00 PM. Important Notes: What to Bring: Hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, camera, binoculars What’s Included: All park entry fees, return transfers, mokoro guide and poler, lunch, bottled water, soft drinks Fitness Level: Suitable for all ages; minimal walking required
