A short trip briefing follows before departure. Settle into our comfortable open-sided 4x4 safari vehicle as we journey towards the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park via the scenic A3 route connecting Maun and Khumaga. Arrival at Makgadikgadi Entrance Gate Upon arrival at the park gate, you will stretch your legs briefly while your guide completes entry formalities. The game drive begins immediately thereafter, following the route along the Boteti River, a lifeline for animals during the dry months. Morning Game Drive – Boteti River Exploration This stretch is home to Botswana’s best-kept wildlife secret — the zebra and wildebeest migration. Depending on the season, expect to see large herds gathering at the riverbanks, often pursued by lions, cheetahs, and other predators. Other species often sighted include: - Kudu, giraffe, and eland - Springbok, steenbok, and duiker - Elephants, red hartebeest, and possibly the elusive brown hyena 12:30 PM – Bush Lunch & Relaxation Enjoy a delicious packed lunch in a shaded area within the park. Take in the stillness and vastness of the Makgadikgadi wilderness, while listening to the distant calls of birds and wildlife. 1:30 PM – Afternoon Game Drive Your adventure continues deeper into the salt pans region, offering breathtaking views of one of the flattest, largest salt pans in the world. Depending on wildlife movements and time of year, expect different sightings and dramatic photographic moments. 3:30 PM – Return Journey to Maun After a rewarding day of exploration, you will begin the drive back to Maun, arriving around 5:30 PM, with memories of a truly wild and untamed Botswana adventure.
