Sri Lanka is where this all began. In 2009, Large Minority put the first travellers behind the wheel of a Tuk-Tuk and sent them out into a country that was barely on the adventure map. It remains our most-loved destination — and the road quickly shows you why.

You join as a team of two or three. That pairing is the engine of the whole thing — someone to navigate, someone to drive, someone to argue about which road looks more interesting. On day one, before anything else, your team completes a full training session: vehicle familiarisation, driving practice, route briefing, and everything you need to feel genuinely confident before the adventure begins. Most people are surprised by how quickly it clicks.

From day two, the rhythm takes over. Each morning your team sets off from one destination to the next — the route unfolding across approximately 600 kilometres over nine driving days. Ancient reservoir cities give way to jungle tracks, hill country tea estates, and wildlife reserves where the elephants don't wait for a scheduled sighting. Along the way, daily app-based challenges run alongside the driving — covering language, food, culture, photography, and physical tasks — adding a thread of friendly competition between teams that builds as the days go on.

The Tuk-Tuk is open-sided, low to the ground, and entirely yours to drive. No guide at the front, no convoy to keep up with. You navigate, you stop when something catches your eye, you get slightly lost and find something better. Large Minority handles the training, the vehicles, the accommodation, and a local support crew positioned across the route. The road is yours.

Who should join: Anyone who wants their first taste of self-drive adventure in a country that is endlessly generous to curious travellers. Equally good for seasoned adventurers returning to the destination that started it all.
