Starting in Kasane on the banks of the iconic Chobe River and finishing in Maun on the edge of the legendary Okavango Delta, this is a true 4x4 overlanding experience through the heart of one of the world's greatest safari destinations. Your Fleet Foot guide drives, navigates and camps with you every step of the way - preparing delicious bush meals over an open fire, sharing in-depth wildlife knowledge and ensuring you experience the very best of Botswana's extraordinary wild spaces. All camping equipment and campsite fees are included. Day 1 Arrive Kasane - Welcome to the Chobe River Campsite: Chobe Safari Lodge Campsite, Kasane | Night 1 of 2 Your Botswana adventure begins at Kasane International Airport where your Fleet Foot guide will be waiting to meet you. After a short transfer you arrive at your campsite at the Chobe Safari Lodge, beautifully positioned on the banks of the Chobe River - one of Africa's most prolific wildlife corridors. Settle in, get your bearings and let your guide brief you on the extraordinary adventure ahead. As the afternoon light turns golden, watch elephant and hippo from the river bank before gathering around your first campfire for a bush dinner under a sky blazing with stars. Day 2 Chobe National Park - Game Drive & River Cruise Campsite: Chobe Safari Lodge Campsite, Kasane | Night 2 of 2 Rise before dawn for an exhilarating open vehicle game drive into Chobe National Park - one of Africa's most spectacular wildlife destinations and home to the world's largest concentration of elephants. Lion, leopard, buffalo, sable antelope and African wild dog are all resident in this remarkable park. Return to camp for a hearty bush breakfast before relaxing through the midday heat. Late afternoon, embark on a guided boat cruise along the Chobe River - arguably one of the finest wildlife river experiences anywhere on the continent. Elephant regularly swim across in dramatic fashion, hippo bask in the shallows and a dazzling array of birds lines the papyrus-fringed banks. Back at camp your Fleet Foot guide will prepare dinner around the fire as the stars emerge above the Chobe floodplains. Day 3 Kasane to Thobolo's Bush Lodge at Barangwe Pan Campsite: Thobolo's Bush Lodge Campsite, Barangwe Pan | Night 1 of 2 After breakfast break camp and set off south-westwards on a scenic tarred road through the Chobe National Park and Forest Reserve, past traditional villages bordering the Chobe River and the Namibian Caprivi Strip. The landscape is dotted with iconic baobabs - some of the most magnificent specimens in Botswana. After 108km the final stretch becomes an easy sand track leading you to Thobolo's Bush Lodge, an eco-friendly wildlife sanctuary positioned on the edge of the magnificent Barangwe Pan. This remarkable pan attracts large herds of migrating and resident game right in front of camp - settling in for sundowners here, with wildlife at the waterhole and an open sky above, is a truly African moment. Your Fleet Foot guide will prepare a delicious boma dinner around the campfire. Day 4 Explore the Barangwe Pan and Surrounding Bush Campsite: Thobolo's Bush Lodge Campsite, Barangwe Pan | Night 2 of 2 Spend a full day exploring the Barangwe Pan area - a hidden gem that sits between the Chobe River corridor and the Savuti wilderness. Large herds of elephant, buffalo and plains game congregate at the pan and the area is well known for roaming lion and resident leopard. Morning and late afternoon 4x4 game drives are the best way to explore this wild corner of Botswana. The surrounding mopane woodland and lush bush are excellent for birdwatching and the ancient baobabs in the area make for spectacular photography. Relax at camp through the heat of the day and enjoy watching game visit the pan from the comfort of camp. Day 5 Barangwe Pan to Mababe River Lodge Campsite: Mababe River Lodge Campsite, Mababe | Night 1 of 2 After an early breakfast break camp and continue your 4x4 adventure southwards. The route takes you through the Savuti area - one of Botswana's most celebrated game-viewing destinations - and across the vast Mababe Depression, an ancient fossil lake bed that in wetter seasons floods to attract enormous concentrations of game. This journey traverses challenging sand ridges through the heart of the Chobe and Savuti wilderness, with excellent game viewing throughout. Arrive at Mababe River Lodge campsite in the late afternoon, ideally situated in the productive transition zone between the Linyanti and Moremi ecosystems. Settle in for another memorable bush dinner as predator calls drift through the night air. Day 6 Explore the Mababe Area Campsite: Mababe River Lodge Campsite, Mababe | Night 2 of 2 A full day to explore the Mababe Concession and surrounds. This productive area is an excellent predator zone - lion, cheetah and African wild dog are frequently encountered. The flat, open terrain makes for superb long-distance game viewing and the transition between the Savuti and Moremi ecosystems means remarkable biodiversity. The Mababe area is also outstanding for birdwatching with raptors, hornbills and rollers all common. Spend your mornings and late afternoons on game drive and the midday at camp where your Fleet Foot guide will have a great lunch waiting for you. Day 7 Mababe to Khwai Hippo Campsite Campsite: Khwai Hippo Campsite, Khwai River Concession | Night 1 of 2 After breakfast head south towards the legendary Khwai River - one of the most wildlife-rich river systems in Botswana. The Khwai River forms the northern boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve and the unfenced Khwai Community Concession offers world-class game viewing in true, untouched wilderness. Your campsite at Khwai Hippo sits directly on the river bank - the constant grunting and splashing of hippos in the water will be your soundtrack for the next two nights. Pods of hippos and life-size crocodiles laze on the banks and elephant, waterbuck and impala frequent the camp area throughout the day. Settle in for sundowners on the river bank followed by a campfire dinner as the African night comes alive around you. Day 8 Explore Khwai River and the Concession Campsite: Khwai Hippo Campsite, Khwai River Concession | Night 2 of 2 A full day to explore the Khwai River and surrounding concession. This is one of the very best places in Botswana to encounter the endangered African wild dog - packs move freely through this area and sightings are far more reliable here than almost anywhere else in Africa. Lion, leopard and cheetah are also regularly spotted. Criss-cross the 4x4 tracks along both banks of the Khwai, stopping to watch hippos, crocodile and a dazzling variety of water birds. Sunrises and sunsets over the Khwai River with its hippo pools make for extraordinary photographs. Listen out at night for laughing hyena, jackal and roaming lion. Day 9 Khwai River to Third Bridge Campsite, Moremi Game Reserve Campsite: Third Bridge Campsite, Moremi Game Reserve | Night 1 of 2 Break camp after breakfast and enter the Moremi Game Reserve through the North Gate - widely regarded as one of Africa's finest and most biodiverse wildlife sanctuaries. The drive south takes you deeper into the Okavango Delta ecosystem on a mix of gravel roads and sandy 4x4 tracks, with outstanding game viewing throughout. Your destination is the iconic Third Bridge campsite - one of the most celebrated wild campsites in Africa, set on a beautiful palm-fringed channel deep in the heart of Moremi. The atmosphere here is extraordinary - vervet monkeys and baboons are camp regulars, fish eagle calls echo across the water and at night the sounds of the Okavango bush are all around you. Day 10 Explore Moremi Game Reserve from Third Bridge Campsite: Third Bridge Campsite, Moremi Game Reserve | Night 2 of 2 Spend a full day immersed in the extraordinary Moremi Game Reserve. The network of 4x4 tracks winds through floodplains, palm-studded islands, mopane woodland and open lagoons - each habitat offering completely different wildlife encounters. Moremi is famous for exceptional lion and leopard sightings and the delta floodplains attract huge concentrations of buffalo and plains game. Your Fleet Foot guide knows this area intimately and will take you to the best spots of the day. Return to camp for a final magical evening at Third Bridge - pour a sundowner, watch the last light fade over the channel and listen to the Okavango Delta come alive in the darkness. Day 11 Third Bridge to Croc Camp, Maun Campsite: Croc Camp Campsite, Maun | Night 1 of 2 Enjoy a final morning game drive through Moremi en route to the South Gate and onwards to Maun - the safari capital of Botswana and gateway to the Okavango Delta.
